A: 384kbs is the bare minimum for Video, which is a full signal strength 3G grade connection. Full Signal Strength Edge should be enough to carry audio only, but buffering is likely to occur. It is best to enable 3G on your phone (will use some battery so make sure your phone is charged or carry a charger with you or get a car charger). There are some phones that don't have 3G so make sure your next phone does, this includes many Blackberries on the market.
Those with an uncapped ADSL line, your ISP may throttle or shape you, especially with video. Those on 384kbs are most likely to experience this.
